Reggae politics

09 Sep 2015

For me, reggae music somehow associates with happiness, freedom peace of mind, and.. one love, you know. People respecting and loving each other, our planet having enough space for everyone, so no need for quarrels or wars. Totally utopian in a good sense. Even if I wanted to kick someone in the face violently, just a couple of reggae songs and I’m ok with disagreement, different values, misunderstanding, whatever.

If reggae doesn’t have same effect on other people, there might be something else. Either visual, like seeing Earth pictures from space, or audial, being music or nature sounds for example. As for me, reminding myself of the immense size of the universe, it’s history of which we are here for but a tiny instant helps to put events into perspective.

Sometimes priming is cool.

What if we exploited it fully? I imagine international negotiations happening not in pompous halls, but in more informal environment, with reggae in the background and, you know, smiles. Our most influential decision makers should not be too relaxed, I know, too much is always at stake, but they probably could use a bit more collaborative mindset. Even the fact that all sides agree to conduct the meeting in such a venue will be a sign for them that everyone is interested in mutually beneficial effective solution.

Although to be honest I don’t feel likely that these all too serious people will agree to such a childish idea any time soon.
